Troubled O-NET is putting pressure on NIETS as well as Education Ministry

Being a national level test and having ambitious objectives O-NET is no doubt regarded as a very important and a prestigious test in Thailand. However, since its inception it has largely failed to serve its purpose and prove its worth resulting in drawing widespread criticism from students, parents, academics as well as media for the overall poor results,  irrational and ridiculous test questions, and inequality and discrepancies in the system that fails to test the students properly. The failure of NIETS to lift O-NET up to the stakeholders’ expectation has now nudged the Ministry of Education to step in. Since the test is a part of education reform, O-NET obviously needs to be overhauled.
