A translation and Impact of Chinese Wuxia

This research aims to study the impacts of Chinese wuxia fiction’s advent in Thailand. The impacts investigated are living culture and believes arising from the wuxia’s advent.

The data are collected from written documents, wuxia books, interviews of wuxia translators, data from wuxia book loan stores, related researches, and interviews of wuxia readers and followers on Pantip website during February 2016-April 2017. It is found that Chinese wuxia and its translation have living and religious impacts on Thai people. It attracts Thai people who read Chinese wuxia to be interested in Chinese history and start studying basic Chinese history so that they can have a better understanding of the wuxia background, Chinese dynasties, as well as Chineseness. Regarding beliefs and religion, wuxia plays an important role in various doctrines. For example, Taoism teaches us to happily live with nature and to believe that knowledge is not a good thing if it leads us to misdeeds.
