Sukarna Chakma

The purposes of this study were to construct and analyze the factors contributing to the academic achievement of international colleges in Thailand. The population of this research was 16, 090 students from Burapha University International College (BUUIC), Assumption University (ABAC) and Asian University (AU). The sample size was 495 international college students studying in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year at these three universities. The research tool was a validated questionnaire having two parts which were used to collect data. To analyze the data, SEM and LISREL program was used. The research tool was validated by 5 experts.

The results of this research revealed that: 1) Majority students studying in the three international colleges were Thai (96.4%) and only a small number (4.6%) were foreign students. 2) The modified model fit satisfactorily with the empirical data, and the causal model of factors had a significant contribution to the academic achievement of international college students in Thailand. 3) Leadership characteristics and parental support were found as exogenous factors on the academic achievement of international college students. 4) Academic achievement of international college students was derived from teaching strategy, which was directly influenced by parental support, management, student characteristics and teacher behaviors, and indirectly influenced by leadership characteristics, parental support, and management.
